Podcast preproduction plan

PODCAST PROJECT PLAN AND RESEARCH

Ahead of embarking on the SMILE Campaign, plan and research your Podcast in detail as part of your Pre-Production for your episode. Use the questions below as prompts and upload to Blogger.

Describe your podcast:

What do you hope to achieve? What is the purpose/function of the work? Is it for entertainment, promotion, information, education etc? What is the structure?

The idea for the next podcast is to reduce stress in the reader and the way I will do this is either speaking about new films coming out or talking about great films that are already out along with games and such and how playing with others can help you forget your struggles and therefore reducing stress.

Having produced a pilot episode of a Podcast, what did you learn from this experience? What do you think you did well throughout the pilot, and what needs to improve ahead of  the Smile Campaign episode? This should relate to technical elements as well as your contributions to hosting the episode.

When I created my podcast, I have learned that planning is something you need to do before a podcast because if you don’t have anything planned then the podcast can become stale and boring but when you have interesting ideas and such to talk about them you can keep the listener interested.

Having completed your target audience research, who is your target audience, and how do you hope to meet their needs through your podcast?

Understanding audiences and users:

– demographics and their needs

– anticipating their needs

– representation and audience theories

– audience, e.g. viewer, reader, player (single/multi), user, participant.

My target audience for the podcast I have made is for boys between the ages 13 to 25 and it mainly focuses around films and games and what happens when you try adapt one to the other.

What constraints do you anticipate throughout the project, and how do you hope to overcome these?

throughout this podcast I expect to have constraints such as maybe people not being in for the recording of the podcast therefore having to record it by myself. Another constraint could be not being able to get the equipment fast enough and have to wait but I am planning to use the mics and equipment first before everyone so I have time to edit.

What materials/resources are required for the project and why?

Logic pro, microphones, mac, pop filters and a drive with storage on it to take it to my computer and edit it.

Please provide two - three examples of your research into other existing podcasts similar to your own, and your analysis of these examples?

What was the purpose of your research? What are your observations? How will this help inform your own practice?

Interpreting meaning, purpose, impact and function in others’ work:

genre conventions, e.g. generic expectations and subversions

visual language and creative forms of communication, e.g.:

formal elements including media, form, perspective, scale

design elements, e.g. balance, alignment, repetition, contrast, space, media and techniques

innovation and developments

audience reception, e.g. uses and gratification.

For examples that are similar to my podcast is the podcast the weekly planet which is a podcast that speaks about films and sometimes games and how good they are another be Pretty Much It which is a podcast that is about watching films and critiquing them and having fun also with inside jokes and banter.
